Save Money On Your Move
Simple Tips to Save Money On Your Move
Do you want to take a more economical approach to moving, but do not want to do a full DIY and come to regret it on move day? At Bulldogs Moving, we wanted to provide tips you can do to save movers time, making your move cheaper. Implementing all of these tips below can help save you hours on your move and that translates into hundreds if not thousands of dollars saved.
Ways To Save Leading Up To Move Day
1. Packing Yourself
While we’re happy to pack and move everything for you, packing yourself can save you money. Packing typically costs our team an extra day of labor and all the materials to pack an entire house. Depending on the amount of packing that could increase the budget quite a bit.
Being able to pack yourself even over the course of a couple weeks will be a big cost savings. If you have never packed before, then check out our Packing Like A Pro Blog.
2. Label Everything Clearly
One of the best ways to save both time and money is by labeling your boxes clearly and accurately. When we arrive, having each box labeled by room (e.g., “Living Room,” “Kitchen”) allows our team to unload and place your boxes in the right spot without needing to ask you where each one goes. You can also label furniture pieces with sticky notes with the room they go to.
Additionally at the new house, putting a sticky note on the wall next to each room will go above and beyond to make sure our team knows which room is which.
3. Disassemble Furniture
If you have large furniture such as beds, tables, or desks, it’s a great idea to disassemble them beforehand. This helps save time and prevents any delays when it’s time to load the truck. If you need help with disassembling or reassembling your furniture, we offer this as part of our full-service moving options, but doing it yourself in advance can help save on labor costs allowing the crew to just grab and go.
Ways To Save On Move Day
4. Be Prepared For The Move
The best way to save money is to be fully prepared when the moving team arrives. If we must spend extra time organizing your belongings or waiting for you to pack, it can result in longer hours and higher costs. To keep everything on track, make sure all your boxes are packed before
we arrive. The more ready you are, the quicker we can get started, and that means lower costs for you!
5. Clear The Moving Areas
First before arrival, it is important to make sure all vehicles are not in the way of where the truck needs to be parked. Make sure you are able to get your vehicle out if you need to so the truck is not blocking it in.
Second, try to find a place for pets and kids to spend the day. Our team is great at working around others and are very friendly, however kids and animals do have a tendency to want to be in the way. This can hinder the moving process and add time to the move.
6. Be Available On Move Day
The more available you are for questions, the quicker our team can get the move done efficiently. If you have any special instructions for the crew, make sure you let them know is they
can adjust as needed. If you are around to answer questions of where items go at the unload, we can quickly navigate dropping all the items in the right room quickly. We don’t want you to have to move when we leave.
